Models powering ChatGPT today

walk-back

Public

OpenAI spokesperson · 2025-03

Statement to The Atlantic

The models powering ChatGPT and our API today were not developed using these datasets. These datasets, created by former employees who are no longer with OpenAI, were last used in 2021.

The public sentence is about today’s product. The private fact is yesterday’s corpus. Both can be true. The falsification is the suggestion that the interesting act never happened.

The tell · “Not in the current model” is a clock, not a denial of the archive.
